The team at Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt grew by one at the beginning of March, as Tommi Sarenko joined the company's maintenance team. – “...
– “Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt must be a nice place to work,” many acquaintances said to me upon hearing about my job change. And based on my few weeks of experience, that is exactly what it is, says the new maintenance specialist at Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt, Tommi Sarenko.
Sarenko moved to Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt from Schneider Electric, where he worked for 16 years in building automation roles. His duties included controlling building heating, monitoring, and ventilation systems using automation. During his years at Schneider, Sarenko also became familiar with Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt.
– TriviumCity and EduCity, as well as the healthcare properties managed by Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt for Hemsö, use Schneider automation, and I visited these buildings regularly in my previous job, so I was already familiar with Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt.
Sarenko saw the job advertisement for Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt on Facebook, where he had been following the company for a long time.
– For a couple of years, I had been interested in the idea of moving from the service provider side to the client side. A year ago, I saw that Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt was looking for a maintenance specialist, but I decided not to apply at the time because I had just started my studies.
“The best part of my job is doing things together.”
Sarenko is studying building services engineering alongside his work at XAMK in Mikkeli, and plans to graduate as a building services engineer in the spring of 2025.
– I study in Mikkeli because I am interested in the HVAC and real estate sector, which were not available to study in Turku. I am pursuing the degree through blended learning, so it is enough that I visit Mikkeli twice a month.
Sarenko's work at Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt is very different from his previous job. His days are filled with a wide range of property-related tasks, and there is a lot to learn, even though the plan is for his work at Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt to eventually focus on automation technology as well.
– The buildings of Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt are modern; the new buildings have been implemented innovatively and as well as possible. The best part of my job, however, is doing things together.
Sarenko has three children, and in the summer, he and his family move from their city home in Petrelius to their cottage in Merimasku. In his free time in the future, Sarenko might be spotted performing at weddings or Christmas parties.
– I play bass in a party band called Zarnome. We used to perform more, but now, after a quiet period, I might find time again to play Finnish rock at parties, Sarenko concludes.
