How did Teknologiakiinteistöt look through the eyes of a work experience intern, and what surprised Veera Nikula, who spent a week at the company in May?
I am Veera Nikula, a ninth-grader doing a work experience placement at Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt. I wanted to come here for my placement because I am interested in business.
From the very first day of my internship, I felt like part of the team. Friendly colleagues came to talk to me and get to know me. I was surprised by how cheerful and supportive the people here are. I also saw a lot of emotional expression, and I think it takes courage to dare to be open.
“From the very first day of my internship, I felt like part of the team.”
We joked around and laughed in meetings. I could ask for help with anything, and everyone offered to assist. I was also able to influence things and provide new perspectives. Here, everyone is able to do independent work and be relaxed in a comfortable working environment. You don't have to be afraid of being yourself here, either. Work doesn't always mean being stressed; work is also about fun, self-expression, brainstorming, and creativity.
They came up with nice tasks for me that were significant and interesting. I was introduced to every unit, of which communications was the most interesting. I got to interview different people, write, and participate in meetings. It felt like I was included as a real employee. I was particularly inspired by the company's successful projects and future development plans.
They strive for a good working environment here, and you can see it not only in the people but also in the premises. There are nice lounge areas everywhere, and art is present both indoors and outdoors. If I had to describe a dream workplace for the future, this would be it. I recommend working at Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt; here you can be seen.
