FVR moved to new premises: “We are really satisfied with the result”

FVR – Finnish Vaccine Research moved to new premises in DataCity after the old ones became too small and impractical. How has FVR enjoyed the new premises and what do clients think of the facilities, a little over two years after the move?

FVR’s Turku clinic had operated on the 4th floor of DataCity for about 20 years, during which time operations expanded and staff numbers grew, meaning the premises were no longer suitable. The new 380-square-meter premises were found on the 6th floor of DataCity and were renovated to meet FVR’s needs.

– The old premises had too few rooms and were otherwise impractical. In the design of the new premises, special attention was paid to functionality, ergonomics, and lighting, says Mirka Piiroinen, Clinic Manager at FVR in Turku.

The aim was for the new premises to reflect the brand of FVR, which conducts vaccine research. Data protection, safety, and the special conditions required by the research also required special consideration in the design of the premises.

– We had our own vision for the premises, and for example, FVR’s color scheme and logos were nicely taken into account right from the early planning stages. The starting points came from us at the clinic, and the design was carried forward in collaboration with the architect and the developer from Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt. The renovation was completed on schedule, and overall everything went smoothly.

“Clients have praised that it is easy to come to us and there is a pleasant atmosphere here.”

The new premises have been easy to find, and the connections to Turku Science Park receive praise from FVR’s clients. The premises have warm tones and are timeless, and both clients and employees enjoy them well.

One of the most significant improvements compared to the previous premises is the staff facilities, which are now located separately from the clinical operations. The staff’s opportunity to retreat for some peace and quiet has significantly increased job satisfaction.

– We have been really satisfied with the result. Clients have also praised that it is easy to come to us and there is a pleasant atmosphere here. The premises are practical and well-designed. I believe they will be pleasing to the eye for years to come, Piiroinen concludes.
