Teknologiakiinteistöt constructed new premises for Turun Vesihuolto, which were completed in 2025 in Itäharju, an area transforming into Turku Science Park. The project originated from Turun Vesihuolto's need for new office space, and timber construction was chosen for its environmental friendliness and its characteristics supporting well-being at work.
– The staff has enjoyed working here at the office very much, and I personally also like coming to the office to work, says Turun Vesihuolto's Communications Planner Elina Stenvall in the new video about AkvaCity.
The AkvaCity complex consists of a two-story office building and a hall intended for depot operations. In addition to these, parking spaces and a courtyard area that will turn green in the coming years were built on the site.
– Project planning always begins with identifying the customer's space requirements, and the customer has the best understanding of their own business. We can help the customer with that, as we have strong expertise in properties and premises, says Teknologiakiinteistöt's Account Manager Annika Pakula.
AkvaCity has been implemented in accordance with the highest Platinum level of the LEED environmental certificate v4 version, which means that AkvaCity's environmental impacts have been minimized throughout the building's life cycle. The property's main construction material is environmentally friendly CLT, and the complex covers 2400 square meters.
– The AkvaCity property is unique, and it is Turku's first all-wood office property. This perhaps also shows that we are always ready to do something new and want to be a pioneer in office premises, Pakula continues.
AkvaCity was designed by Sarc + Sigge Arkkitehdit, and its lead designer is Jani Vahala. Jatke Länsi-Suomi was responsible for the construction of AkvaCity.
