History

Turku Science Park began with the construction of DataCity in 1988. The idea was to bring high‑tech companies and academic research in Turku together under one roof. The project originated from the vision of property developer Juhani Lunden, who proposed the idea of an “IT House,” later named DataCity.

The future of Turku Science Park

The development of the Turku campus and Turku Science Park is one of the City of Turku’s key strategic projects. Expansion of the Science Park towards the Itäharju industrial area will further strengthen the district as an urban hub for expertise, innovation, mobility and living.
